Culture & Tradition

Hi! Friends,

It’s been few months since I had last written for this great Country due to busy schedules. Today, I want to address you with the Great Culture and Traditions of our country.

India with different religions, dances, food, music and architecture stand united and a secular nation. Being a majority of Hindus in the country, there are 3, 00,000 active mosques in India more than in any country including Muslim dominated countries. Jews and Christians have lived continuously in India since 200 B.C and 52 A.D.
The oldest European church and synagogue in India are in the city of Cochin, built in 1503 and 1568 respectively.

It is interesting to know that when many cultures were only nomadic forests dwellers over 5000 years ago, Indians Established harappan culture in sindhu ('Sindhu', named by Aryan worshipers) valley (Indus Valley Civilization).

The four religions born in India are followed by 25% of world's population i.e., Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism.

Indian dancing styles are based on the Tandava like the

Urdhra Tandava

, Sandhya Tandava, etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TandavaIndian classical dance also found its way outside India especially to the countries of South East Asia. The dance styles of Thailand, Indonesia, and Burma are heavily borrowed from the Indian classical dance traditions.

To be continued…
